Shoot 1

We have started shooting now, the whole team is working very hard for it.
Shooting was started sequence wise. In the beginning we show scenes from detective's office. And hence we started with the office. We showed how he is working in his office and then when he gets informed about the criminal's car being spotted he immediately leaves.

                                     

All of the scene in the office were shot with a Nikon D7100, ISO 640 and shutter speed 1/50, we mainly used different kinds of lamps that had same kind of lights for the lighting.

LOCATIONS FOR THE FILM OPENING

The reason we chose this park is that we wanted to show some father/daughter memories of the detective and his daughter. So we showed them playing in the park, sharing some good moments together.

This is the place where we shot the criminal's introduction and we wanted it to be indoors i.e inside a well decorated room where he would be getting ready.

This is Olympus mall in F-11 Islamabad, it is still under construction and since we wanted to show the criminal's hide out which we wanted to be an isolated place or a building and hence we chose this.

Lastly this is the Detective's office where we showed him working and then getting informed about the criminal's car and immediately going after him.

Final meeting in which we made a presentation for our teachers in which we had to explain our story, cast, locations, props etc. Once the presentation is given we will start shooting for the Film Opening soon.

Story and Research

STORY

Movie name: Nostalgic Absence
Genre: Thriller

The story is basically about a detective and a criminal.

It starts with an office scene where a detective is tensed and is going through files investigating a case of missing people.

In another scene a person is getting ready who’s face is hidden and after he gets ready his face is revealed and comes out of his house, a person bumps into him and he kidnaps him out of anger and from that it is revealed that he is the criminal with bipolar syndrome.

Later on the detective is informed that the car of the criminal has been spotted.

He picks up his stuff and goes after him.

When he gets there, he finds his daughter’s necklace and a phone which is ringing, gets flashbacks of memories.

When he picks it up it’s the psychopath saying “You thought you would catch me” Daughter says from behind “Help me daddy”

RESEARCH

Our story was an original idea however we took inspiration from different American tv serials. The look of the detective was inspired by Sherlock Holmes whereas the look and character of the criminal was inspired by Hannibal.

GROUP MEETING 

Here the whole team was working on the story. We made a rough sketch of our story board and finalized it at the end. We finalized our cast, props and locations. 

Since we started learning premiere we had in mind that we'd make a film opening for our CIE. We made our group and started working on our story, shots, cast etc.

In our group there are 4 people.
